St. Paul’s Chapel

Tucked into a peaceful churchyard in Lower Manhattan, St. Paul’s Chapel is the city’s oldest building still used for its original purpose. Built in 1766, it has witnessed centuries of history, from George Washington’s visits to its role as a place of rest for first responders after 9/11. Despite its proximity to Ground Zero, the chapel remained untouched during the attacks.

Fun Fact: Its survival through major historical events has made it a symbol of resilience and quiet strength in the heart of the city.
