MICHAEL MISCIONE served as the Manhattan Borough Historian from 2006 until 2019. He is a native New Yorker, a professional tour guide, and a historical activist. He is well known for his ongoing efforts to celebrate Manhattan’s not-entirely-mythical sewer alligators, and to raise awareness for Andrew H. Green, the forgotten “Father of Greater New York”.

After exploring cities around the world, filmmaker Daniel Steiner became fascinated by the way maps can reveal hidden layers of history. What started as an interest in New York has grown into a Youtube channel exploring places from Tokyo to Edinburgh to Los Angeles. With detailed graphics and conversations with historians, authors, and map experts, Daniel’s videos show how streets and skylines tell the story of the past.
